The kit turned out spectacular - beautiful to look at but more important incredible tone - very authentic tone when played next to the real thing. No need to use my Clapton Crossroads pedal anymore!
I started this kit as a rank beginner - I've tooled with kit electronics before and NONE ever worked save one very simple passive circuit after having kindergarten step by step e-mail direction. So when I opened this kit I was immediately intimidated.
For those with experience this is a no-brainer and the kit was quite complete, save a couple small details. But back-up was excellent by Mike Marsh.
For the beginner I think instructions could have been a bit more step-by-step but after staring at the layout sheet for a while it really starts to make sense. And I literally do not know a cathode from an anode so little electronics know-how is needed. Just follow the diagram in the order suggested in the instructions and you'll get there. Mike was there all the way for troubleshooting minor errors that appeared large to me and later for tweaking tone.
It really is a SUPERB amp, as good or better than anything I've owned and that includes vintage Fenders, Mesa Boogie, Crate, Laney, Music Man, Peavey. Highly recommended and price was right. Next stop - a Tweed Deluxe kit.
