Tweed 5E3 Amp Kit
[5E3KIT]

by Bradley Harris Date Added: Wednesday 10 January, 2007
Well I really wanted to learn how to build an amp and I had never done one before. I had built a mic tube preamp and a guitar preamp from a PAIA kit. Plus I do work on all my own guitars, so I was at least not totally a beginner. I ordered the Tweed Deluxe kit and put it together, which was a real learning proces for me. Mike was excellent in helping through it and very patient with me. Thanks for the help Mike. You helped me build a quiet, great sounding amp.

I had a few issues that I ran into while building it, but Mike walked me through the amp on the phone to find those problems. I first crossed up the fillament wires on the pilot light lug. Mike found it by looking at pics I took. Then I forgot to ground two of the .025 capcitors. Once all of that was fixed and I re-wired three of my four input jacks, the amp works great now. It also sounds great too and is very quiet when wired like suggested by Mike and the Layout.

Overall a great amp and awesome customer support.

Thanks,

Brad Harris
